Not going to start typing everything you did wrong, because I'm sure you already know from your own experience in that race and from re-watching the video. Even if you have to slow your pace down a little, just so you can get comfortable using that small part of the track. But, there is enough grip to stay glued to the track if you do find yourself on them, as long as you aren’t too aggressive with the throttle or your entry.
I just went to Homestead for the first time at the beginning of the month, so I know how difficult it is to try to tiptoe around the concrete patches. One thing I can say is, try to use more of the track. I didn’t really have time to learn the number of each turn so if you’re confused, I understand. Don’t use all of the exit on that first right hand turn so that when you change direction, you will be somewhere in the middle of the track and you can just open the throttle all of the way and take a very wide line through the next left hander. Specifically the turn after the first right hand turn.
